Patchouli Essential Oil

  • Patchouli has a strong, sweet scent that falls into the musky-earthy category. Because of its strong fragrance, it’s often used as a base scent in candles and perfumes because it smells sweet, spicy, and musky. This versatile scent is why patchouli can be found in so many different products, including candles, perfumes, cosmetics, detergents, and more. Patchouli shines beautifully when used in synergy with other essential oils.

    Patchouli oil can be used for aromatherapy via a diffuser. As always, it’s important to remember that essential oils are very concentrated it’s important to dilute essential oils appropriately. Never eat or drink any essential oil without first consulting a qualified medical professional.

  • How to Use Patchouli Essential Oils

    Patchouli essential oils are typically considered safe when used correctly. Skin burns, poisoning, and toxicity in animals can all come from improper use. This oil can be used with a milder essential oil to make it easier to massage into the skin. Before applying, make a note of any skin sensitivity. Do a patch test to make sure that no allergic reaction follows.

    If you don't have a diffuser and can't use essential oils for aromatherapy, you can add a few drops to boiling water and inhale the beautiful aroma or simply let it fill the room. If you have an oil diffuser, simply follow the manufacturer's directions. It’s very unlikely that the evaporated form will be harmful to humans or animals. Nevertheless, make sure it’s kept in a safe place away from open flame and any heart source.

    Never ever take essential oils orally. Doing so can cause to nausea, stomach troubles, and more. Always consult your physician before you ingest any kind of essential oils.
